Shining, Shimmering, Splendid

Looks like I was wrong, the excess lightheartedness from the last couple weeks did not cumulate into some sort of mental pile of sparkly contentment, ready to be used later as I had hoped. Instead I’ve been feeling (and acting) pretty irate about schoolwork and the feeling of being in a perpetual group meeting. And yeah, I know, only two more weeks. And yes, almost there. Realized last night though, for some odd reason, I care more than usual about my grades this quarter. And the realization is a bit perplexing. Weird. Read more

Thanksgiving Break

The day after Thanksgiving I had every intention of hitting Silverdale for some holiday shopping. Instead, the day was spent at my parents’ house alternately chatting online, eating pumpkin coffee cake, and watching portions of Raising Helen, repeat, repeat, repeat. What a day! Turkey Lumpia

I love Thanksgiving at my aunt’s house. It’s all about the long table that seats thirty and eating food all day long. It’s the little traditions that make me look forward to this holiday each year, like hor d’oeuvres at noon; going around the table saying what we’re thankful for; the prayer before eating; playing bingo; my little cousin Sam walking around with her clipboard taking post-meal coffee orders; gathering the aunts, uncles, and cousins for the midday walk around the neighborhood.
