it’s mainly about food, really

So about Cambodian New Year. On Saturday night, went out with the INFO Crew to the HUB Ballroom to see David’s Cambodian New Year Show. The food was tasty and there was a pretty good crowd. Photos from my camera of us at our table can be found here. For pictures of the actual stuff on stage, see Sean’s photos.
The title of the play was “Life is But a Dream” and it was written, directed, and starred none other that our very own David Horm! It was pretty awesome. And needless to say, it had David written all over it. I particularly liked the incorporation of the traditional Cambodian dances with the play’s plot. I’ve seen attempts at traditional dance/story combos before, but I think that this was the first time that it went really well together. Plus it was filled with lots of laughs and antics. It was great to watch and I guess this post is basically props to Dave and his club for all their hard work. (Yeah, can I get an autograph?)
Hmm. I guess that’s all I had to say about that. Anyway, I’ll leave you with pictures of me and Ryan having technical difficulties taking a decent photo together that night.

I’ve been meaning to write so here goes. I’m so bad with entries. No, really. I write half ones (and sometimes complete ones) and stop from posting because I can’t get the wording right, beause I think the content is too silly to publish to the annals of the Internet, because I’m brutally picky when it comes to my words.
I started blogging because I like archiving my life. Yeah, go figure. I like seeing what I did Oct. 19, 2003 or browsing through old entries. It makes sense if I’ve ever shown you my box. This box at home I have, it’s filled with journals since 1st grade (Lil’ Mermaid, squishy aqua blue cover, yellow pages with orange lines). It’s filled with elementary school field trip name tags, schedules, old spelling tests, etc. Moms usually save this stuff, but no, ever since I could read and write I took certain delight in recording things for memory’s sake. My blog isn’t exactly the same as my journal, but it’s sorta my place to record the happenings en mi vida and share ‘em. Lately I have been too particular about what goes up. Let’s see if I can crunch this entry out without my usual twenty-six edits.

I’m midway through Week 2 of Spring quarter and I can say that things are, well, different. A complete change in pace from my last five quarters in the INFO program. So, what have I been up to?
Banana Cream Pudding
Jules made banana cream pudding using Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies and I can’t stop eating it. It makes a great breakfast, pre-dinner snack, post-dinner snack, before I go to sleep-snack. Needless to say, it’s nearly gone now. I have such a soft spot for sweet mushy desserts.
ECON Classes
Besides eating banana cream pudding, I’m taking the following courses this quarter:
- ECON 471 - International Trade
An intermediate course in the theory of international trade, using microeconomic analysis, focusing on distributional impacts of free trade. Put simply: economists lub lub luuv free trade. It’s a pretty insightful class thus far and goes really well with my other courses. If only it were macro instead of micro…ah, was so close at having all my ECON courses being such.
- ECON 406 - Economic Growth
Exploration of growth theory through economic models and cross-country datasets. Basically the course focuses on exploring why some countries are rich and others are poor and what determines growth and development in economies. This class is jam-packed with fun facts. And the Solow model on repeat.

Friday I wasn’t feelin’ too hot, so I opted to head home to my parents’ house for the night. So after work and a quick visit MGH, I drove off to Fauntleroy to catch a ferry.
It was a nice ferry ride. I used to ride the ferry twice a week for the first three years of college, but now not so much. Remembered how nice it is to end the week out on the water reading a book.
At home I hung out with my parents and cousins who were over. Had cream of chicken soup and salmon sandwhiches with my Dad and then went to sleep ridiculously early at 9:30PM. The next morning I bummed around, Flickr’ed some family vacation photos, and took a ferry back to the city.
Later that afternoon, Jules and I then left to U-Village to Paint the Town for Cynthia’s birthday party. We all painted tiles to be a part of a mirror for the birthday girl. It was pretty fun (albeit challenging) to work with paint.
